Elementary Program

MSAD's elementary program consists of grades Kindergarten through 5th grade and is located in Quinn Hall.  We offer an ASL/English Bilingual approach to teaching.

Our classroom content follows the Minnesota State Standards and we have adopted textbooks that follow these standards as well as meet the learning needs of our students. Our students' academic day focuses on reading, writing, math, science and social studies.  During the week, students rotate through enrichment classes including art, technology, physical education, and media literacy. Friday schedules divert from the typical day to include character education (CARE) and classes including health, Deaf studies, and ASL. Speech, Occupational Therapy, and Physical Therapy services are provided on a pull-out basis as determined by each student's individual IEP.  We offer a visual, hands-on approach to education and our classrooms are full of active learning. Our department is divided by grades and we utilize both large and small group settings for instruction.
