Welcome
The Minnesota State Academy for the Deaf (MSAD) serves students who are Deaf, Hard of Hearing, or DeafBlind from across Minnesota. Our students receive a challenging, student-centered education in a fully accessible, language-rich environment where American Sign Language (ASL) and English support academic achievement, communication, and lifelong learning.
Our teachers are professionally trained and licensed in Deaf and Hard of Hearing education and provide individualized instruction designed to meet each student's unique strengths and educational needs. MSAD offers a free educational and residential program for students from birth through age 22.
Students have access to a wide variety of academic, athletic, artistic, and extracurricular opportunities that foster critical thinking, communication, leadership, self-advocacy, and cultural identity. Through Student Life, athletics, clubs, and residential programming, students build lasting friendships, develop independence, and become active members of the Deaf community.
