Services for our youngest children from birth to 3 years old are served through home visits on Fridays. During home visits, a licensed Deaf/Hard of Hearing teacher or Speech-Language Pathologist comes into the child's home and works with the child and family as part of Individualized Family Services Plan (IFSP). Each visit is tailored to meet the needs of the individual and his/her family. Areas of focus include but are not limited to activities that help your child reach their developmental milestones:
-
Cognitive growth
-
Language skills
-
Gross and fine motor movement
-
Social-emotional development
-
Self-help skills
Our teachers can also help with building vocabulary for bedtime routines, meals/food groups, and bathing. MSAD is able to employ licensed Speech Pathologist to make sure your student has access to language at an early age.
Depending on the families’ needs, these visits vary and are designed to educate and support your family. Some parents desire to learn about hearing loss, access to language and how best to communicate with your child. Having a licensed Deaf/Hard of Hearing teacher in your home gives you the opportunity to learn about your educational options, have resources at your fingertips, and have your questions answered in a comfortable setting.
