2. Elementary » Art

The elementary art curriculum is based on both the Minnesota Standards and National Standards for Visual Arts (SRA McGraw-Hill text set). Students have hands on experiences in at least three different art media. Students are expected to know art elements and some of the common art principles (repetition, contrast and balance) as outlined by Perpich Center for Arts Education (PCAE). On the elementary level, students are introduced to art of different times and cultures, and shown how visual art relates to music, theater and literature.
