Volunteers of America DHH School-Based Children's Mental Health Services program is designed to provide mental health services within the school setting to deaf, deafblind and hard of hearing children, adolescents and their families. MSAD works in collaboration with VOA by providing a location within our school for VOA staff to meet with students.
DHH School-Based Children's Mental Health Services Staff
Highly trained mental health professionals who are fluent in American Sign Language and are familiar with Deaf culture staff the program. They have a broad range of understanding about the physical and mental health needs of deaf, deafblind and hard of hearing children and adolescents and how these needs influence family and school life.
This program is a service that is provided through VOA Mental Health Clinics, which is licensed as a Rule 29 Mental Health Clinic. DHH school-based therapists have access to consultation and support from the multidisciplinary team of mental health professionals in the VOA Mental Health Clinics. As a result, psychological services, psychiatric services and other mental health services are available on an outpatient basis.

DHH School-Based Children's Mental Health Services are designed to provide a variety of mental health services to help children, adolescents and families.
The goal of this service is to help strengthen the emotional, behavioral and social functioning of deaf, deafblind and hard of hearing children, adolescents and their families. Services include:

- Homebased Family Therapy
- Multidisciplinary Team Consultation
- Parent Support Groups
- Consultation to Schools
- Consultation to Dormitory Staff
- Mental Health Case Management
Hours And Availability
DHH School-Based Children's Mental Health Services are flexible and will schedule to accommodate the needs of the child or adolescent and their family. Most services take place within the school setting, however, homebased and outpatient services are also available.
Volunteers of America Mental Health Clinics bills third party insurances for reimbursement for therapy and other mental health services. Other resources are available for children who do not have Insurance.
The consultation and coordination aspects of the DHH School-based Children's Mental Health Services are funded through a grant awarded to Volunteers of America of Minnesota by the Minnesota Department of Human Services, Deaf and Hard of Hearing Services Division.

DHH School-Based Mental Health Services program is just one of the programs provided by VOA's Rule 29 mental health clinic. VOA Mental Health Clinics also provide outpatient mental health services to children, youth, adults, and families through a multidisciplinary team of Psychologists, Psychiatrists, Social Workers, Marriage and Family Therapists, Psychotherapists and Chemical Dependency Counselors. The services provided include: psychological evaluation, psychological testing and assessment, ADHD assessments, chemical dependency assessments, psychiatric services, medication management and individual, couple, family and group psychotherapy.

Volunteers of America of Minnesota Mental Health Clinic is a Minnesota Department of Human Services licensed Rule 29 Mental Health Clinic and is accredited by the Council on Accreditation. Additionally, we are a certified provider of Children's Therapeutic Services and Support (CTSS) in several counties including Anoka, Benton, Hennepin, Ramsey, Wright, Sherburne and Stearns. DHH Mental Health Services is funded in part through a state grant awarded to Volunteers of America of Minnesota by the Minnesota Department of Human Services Deaf and Hard of Hearing Services Division.
